Personal income in Australia

Below are maps showing the approximate median personal income for each federal electorate, based on the incomes reported in the 2011 Census, counting only people aged 15 and over. Labels are the electorate names. I don't know how intuitive the colour scale is: it goes purple-blue-green-yellow-orange-red, like a rainbow without indigo (because, let's be honest, indigo isn't really a colour). The numerical values shown in the legend are gross weekly incomes. Median weekly incomes range from $376 (Fowler) to $1062 (Wentworth).

Data is via TableBuilder, which gives numbers of people in income bands (negative income, nil income, $1-$199, $200-$299, etc.). To estimate the median I just linearly interpolated between the bounds of the income band that the median person fell into. I checked a few cases and this value was always within a dollar of the values reported in the ABS community profile pages.
